Learning Inc. Student Orientation Program:
W.I.S.E. (Welcomed and Initiated Students Excel)
In fall 2010 Learning Inc. started the school year
with an expanded orientation program called W.I.S.E. The program was conceived with the goal of spending a
concentrated period of time (approximately 35 hours total
over a 2 week period) preparing students to learn, establishing
behavioral expectations and building the relationships
crucial to future academic success.
Some of the learning readiness skills addressed were:
*Cooperation-collaboration
skills
*Listening skills
*Public speaking/presentation skills
*Preparedness
*Anger management/communicating feelings in a proactive
way
*Thinking/reasoning skills
